From Stuck to Empowered: Why I Chose Therapy as My Path

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a therapist. In fact, for a long time, I was just trying to survive in a life that didn’t feel like it was truly mine.

Before entering this field, I had a different career—one that, on paper, looked stable, respectable, and even meaningful. But under the surface, something was missing. I was living in a way that constantly left me anxious, overworked, and emotionally drained. I’d fantasize about a life that felt calmer, freer, more joyful—but it always felt like that life was just out of reach. Like I was on the outside looking in.

Therapy changed that for me.

My personal experience with therapy was life-changing. It was the first time I was invited to pause and ask myself what I really wanted, what I needed, and what was driving the choices I was making. Slowly, I began to move out of a life that was happening to me, and into one I was actively shaping.

That shift was everything.

As I continued my own inner work, I realized something profound: the most meaningful part of my job at the time—what lit me up the most—was supporting people one on one. Whether it was a colleague needing space to vent or a friend going through a tough time, I noticed I felt most in alignment when I was present with someone, helping them feel grounded, heard, and empowered.

That realization was my turning point. I needed a career change, but not just any change—I wanted a life where what I was doing aligned with my values. And that meant a total life change — who I surrounded myself with, my romantic relationship, new boundaries, and of course, my career. Over the course of a couple of years, I flipped my life upside down. It was scary, but so worth every bit of it.

Today, my passion lies in helping others reclaim ownership over their lives—emotionally, mentally, and even physically. I believe in a holistic approach to well-being. We are not just minds. We are bodies, emotions, relationships, and dreams, too. I care deeply about balance—not the rigid, perfectionistic kind, but the kind that makes space for rest, joy, ambition, softness, and clarity to co-exist.

It’s not just about coping. It’s about building a life that fits you—one where you’re not just reacting, but choosing. A life where you’re not constantly asking, “Why do I feel so stuck?” but instead are declaring, “This is the life I’ve created, and I love it.”

That’s the heart of my work: helping people go from feeling like life is happening to them, to becoming someone who happens to their life—with intention, courage, and self-trust.

And here’s something I want my clients to always know: I do this work in my own life, too.

I’m committed to walking my talk—not in the performative, Instagrammable way, but in the quiet, consistent way that nourishes me so I can show up with integrity. I take my rest seriously. I make space for joy. I listen to my body. I say no when I need to. I’m not perfect—but I’m practicing. Always.

Because in order to hold space for others to step into their full, empowered lives, I have to keep doing the same. That’s the gravitas I bring to this work—and it’s the foundation I stand on every time I sit across from someone who’s ready to change their life.

If you’re feeling stuck, like you're waiting for Joy to begin... I want you to know it is possible. The shift you’re yearning for might be closer than you think.

Let’s happen to your life—together.
